The Last Samurai

i recently rented The Last Samurai. I don’t want to overstate my reaction to this movie so i’ll just say it really was one of the best movies i’ve ever seen. It was intense, emotional, and - dare i say it - thought provoking. watch it. (more…)

New copy of official U.S. playstation magazine

The lunchmeat is gone. I went to the Raley’s/Bel-Air Deli and got a turkey sandwich for lunch (I go there a few times a month on my lunch break). I’m usually in somewhat of a hurry so I try to minimize the time that I spend in the store. Well I’m a sucker for any magazine rack which is well out of my way if all i do is go to the deli, but today i decided to check out their magazine rack for the first time.

To my amazement they had the new copy of official U.S. playstation magazine so i bought it as i usually do (why the hell don’t i just subscribe??). I got in the super-long line, paid for my sandwich and mag, got quarters for the generic soda machine, headed to the empty generic soda machine, and sat in my car and ate my haogie with nothing to wash it down (dissed by the generic 25?? soda machine!). I didn’t get a chance to read much as i shoved the turkey sandwich in my face but i discovered that the demo disc with the magazine had “nba street volume 2″ on it (i never got around to playing the first, but it always intrigued me).

When I got home, i played the nba street vol.2 demo and was blown away by how fun it was. Since it’s just a demo it’s very limited but you can play two teams (limited to 6 or 7 players each): ‘NBA Stars’ or ‘Old School’. I chose NBA Stars and took A.I., T-Mac, and Yao. I was interrupted by door-to-door solicitors (No, I don’t want Pizza-Hut even if it’s free… fuck you) and had my game on pause for so long that it timed-out. I chose Old-School the next time and went with Magic, MJ(’96), and Dominique. DAMN this game rocks! You have the regular game score and a separate score for the points you get from tricks, dunks, fakes, etc., and combos. It’s kind of like Tony Hawk Pro Skater meets hoops (what with the combos). If you played the first NBA Street, maybe this is all old news to you, but this game fun!

Where’s my DLL?

How often have you tried to run an application only to be told you’re out of luck because some obscure DLL file is missing from your system? These messages can arise as a result of faulty installations, because you’ve accidentally deleted an essential component yourself or even if the software author has forgotten to include the file altogether. Rather than re-install the troublesome application to resolve the problem, or abandon it completely, you can locate the pesky absentee using one of the following online resource sites: DLL Downloads, DLL Files.

SARS Shmars

I am so sick and tired of hearing about SARS. SARS, SARS, SARS, SARS, SARS. Geez, it almost makes you wish the war in Iraq was still going on so “journalists” will have something to talk about. My rant on “journalists” and “news” will come soon I’m sure.
