McCoy prepped at Southeast High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he was trained by Michael Branch Oklahoma Sooners Myspace. After notching 83 tackles, including 23 deals with the loss and 20 sacks, he was named All-area, all states and all metro-2004 as a junior at Oklahoma Sooners Myspace.
